  • MWBC, or Melbourne West Barbell Club if you're not into the whole brevity thing, is more than just a gym. It’s a rebellion against the typical grunt-and-lift scene. We’re so proud of the community we have, who value inclusivity and seriously good lifting. We’re not interested in gym-timidation and focus on empowering every member, whether you're lifting a barbell for the first time or prepping for your next big competition and we do it through a mix of expert, personalised coaching, a purpose-built facility that welcomes lifters of all stripes, and a vibe that’s as supportive as it is fun.   • At MWBC, we're all about lifting, but it's not one-size-fits-all here. Whether you're just starting to eye the barbell or you've been lifting so long you've named all the weights, we’ve got a program for you. Our offerings range from Team Training and STRONG Sessions for those who thrive in a group setting, to Personal Training for a more tailored touch.   • The coaches at MWBC are not just lovers of lifting heavy things; they’re also bona fide experts in making sure you lift them right! Each one of our coaches is highly qualified, holding certifications that range from weightlifting coaching certificates to degrees in Osteopathy! training at MWBC

  • Congrats on booking your first training session with us! Please get in touch with us if you’ve not yet received your welcome email with your athlete intake form.

    On the day, please wear comfortable activewear and trainers and bring along your water bottle and a towel if you need one. If you have weightlifting shoes that’s fantastic, but don't worry if you don't currently own any.

  • We have standards at MWBC that we expect all of our athletes to abide by:

    1. Inclusivity & Equality: Every member is valued equally & celebrated for their individuality

    2. Effort over outcomes: Valuing process over outcome, we prioritise growth & improvement through effort.

    3. Connection & Community: Greet your team, introduce yourself to new faces & share bars during training

    4. Respect & Responsibility: Show respect & responsibility towards the equipment, members & training environment at MWBC

    5. Safety & Support: Prioritise safe technique over heavy loads, and ask for help when needed

  • We have three parks directly outside of our gym and there is plenty of on-street parking on McArthurs Rd as well, which is about a minute’s walk.

  • This is incredibly important to us hereat MWBC. We have a professional cleaning team that services the gym weekly, along with a policy on cleaning up after yourself (wipes provided).

    We have been told many times its the cleanest gym people have ever set foot in and we’re really proud of that. We don’t want our lifters laying on the floor and getting dust bunnies or dirt on them so we strive to keep it that way: feel free to lay on the floor any time!
