Whether you're a total rookie or a former lifter looking to nail your form, we've got your back (and your quads, and your glutes...) with
barbell for beginners
Keen to join the gym but feeling a bit overwhelmed? Or maybe you're looking to fine-tune your lifts or get back into the swing of things after a break? We've all been there. That's why we created
barbell for beginners
This is our 8-week program designed to take you from newbie (or not-so-newbie) to a lifting weapon in just two small group sessions per week. And by 'small group,' we mean you won't need binoculars to see the coach—each class caps at six people.
So whether you've been watching jaw-dropping Olympic lifts on YouTube, thinking, "I want in on that," or you're just curious about mastering the snatch, clean, and (ahem) jerk, this program is tailor-made for you.
Over our eight weeks together, you’ll get:
Weekly programming to help you progress from cautious to confident (because trust us, nailing that first big lift or perfecting your form is a feeling like no other)
Mobility protocols to keep you moving like a well-oiled machine
Access to our highly qualified coaches who genuinely give a sh!t about your success
To train in MWBC's state-of-the-art weightlifting facility (where the barbells are always shiny, and the bangers are always pumping)
Finish up, and you won't just feel ready; you'll be itching to join the regulars in the MWBC community, whether you're a total beginner or a seasoned lifter looking to level up. Pretty slick, right?
Now, we know what you're thinking. "Sign me up, coach!" But hold your horses (or barbells). We only run Barbell for Beginners a couple of times a year, depending on demand. So, if you're keen to get in on the action, smash that waitlist button, and we'll shout when it's go-time.
words from the b4b crew

In previous environments, I’ve experienced ridicule on what I am able to lift … I thought MWBC may be the same given the calibre of athletes that go there. Doing Barbell for Beginners, I got to see the spectrum of capability and that everyone was “accepted” at their own level and their own goals. Sebb switched effortlessly between humour and being serious. He didn’t take a one size fits all approach, he was able to adapt based on each of our styles and strengths.

Before starting at MWBC, I thought I was 'too old' to for these high explosive lifts, but I'm already more coordinated and gained more flexibility than standard gym work so the results have changed my perspective. Sebb really helped by honing in on specific weaknesses to address and/or correct instead of broad or general recommendations. He’s got great banter, high standards, and is encouraging and attentive to any issues you are having.
