The Power of Team: Embracing Community at MWBC

At Melbourne West, we believe in the strength and support that comes from being part of a team. While weightlifting is often seen as an individual sport, we recognize the incredible value of building strong relationships within our community. In this three-part email series, we will explore why supporting your team is crucial to the MWBC experience, along with the standards we uphold as teammates.

Stop & Support Heavy Lifts

When it comes to attempting heavy lifts, emotions can run high. Fear, excitement, and nerves often accompany these pivotal moments. What sets our club apart is the unwavering support and cheers that resonate throughout the room when a lifter prepares for a challenging lift.

At Melbourne West, we guarantee that you will always have the best cheer squad, whether you're training or competing. Stopping to support your teammates during their heavy attempts not only creates a vibrant atmosphere but also demonstrates solidarity and encouragement. This collective support contributes to the electric environment that Melbourne West has cultivated so effectively.

Respect MWBC Space & Equipment

One of the many advantages of being a part of Melbourne West is having our own dedicated space tailored specifically for Olympic Weightlifting. No longer confined to generic fitness facilities, we have access to IWF-grade equipment and all the resources necessary to execute our programs effectively.

To maintain the integrity of our space and foster a respectful environment, it's essential that we adhere to a few guidelines. Firstly, please book your classes in advance on Gym Master to ensure a smooth training experience for everyone. Additionally, be mindful not to obstruct the line of sight of others when they are lifting, and keep your platform area tidy and hazard-free.

Respecting our equipment is equally important. Avoid dropping bars with only 5kg plates loaded, opt for larger plate options (e.g., 20kg instead of 2 x 10kg), and always use collars. Return equipment to its original position after use and sanitize it to maintain cleanliness.

Stay tuned for our second email in the club standards series, where we will delve into knowing when to ask for help and the importance of trusting the process over focusing solely on outcomes.

At Melbourne West, we believe that the power of a united team is unparalleled. Supporting one another during heavy lifts, respecting our space and equipment, and fostering a positive and uplifting environment are fundamental to our community. Together, we can push our limits, achieve our goals, and celebrate each other's successes along the way.

Stay strong,

The MWBC Coaching Team
